Homework

Production

Pre-Production
This is the stage in which all the planning for the project takes place. During pre-production, the production is broken down into individual scenes and all the locations, props, cast members, costumes and special effects are identified. The script  is written at this stage. A detailed schedule is produced and arrangements are made for the necessary elements or people to be available to the film-makers at the appropriate times.

PRODUCTION
This is the stage at which all the filming is carried out. All scenes planned out in pre-production are filmed at the relevant locations. Each scene is filmed as many times as the director needs to ensure the best quality scenes will be used to make the film. This is wherethe pre-production work is put to the test. Great care must be taken to make sure that all the filming is done correctly and all necessary shots are takenas it is sometimes difficult or impossible to go back and repeat certain events if the filming is incomplete when it comes to the post-production stage.

Post-Prouction
This is the stage in which the film is put together and refibed by the editor. The first job of the film editor is to build a rough cut taken from sequences (or scenes) based on individual takes (shots). The purpose of the rough cut is to select and order the best shots. The next step is to create a fine cut by getting all the shots to flow smoothly in a seamless story. Trimming - the process of shortening scenes by a few minutes, seconds, or even frames - is done during this phase. As well as the editing of footage, all music, graphics, menus etc are added in this stage. it is then moved to a final cut after the fine cut has been screened and approved by the director and producer.

Distribution
Films go from the edit house to the audience  by: digital cinema projector (DCP), shipped 30mm projector,
DVD, online, TV.
Distributors may  choose one weekend over another to line it up with a certain event or release of other franchise merchandise or it could just be on a bank holiday or a special event i.e xmas, easter, valentines day, etc.

Marketing
Some examples of marketing are advertising in magazines, adverts, trailers, billboards, internet, social media sites, merchandise, word of mouth, etc
The type of audience that see the film all depends on the type of marketing you use, for example middle aged people in london will see a lot of billboards and buses for films that they would see as appose to them being on the internet because a middle aged person is less likely to be "surfing the web".

EXHIBITION

In films these days there seems to be an obsession with making an emotional attachment to a character than actually making a stand out film. Because they make more money from merchandise that way. But what makes a great film is an engaging one, a film that gets the audience involved by making them question the meaning in the context of the film rather than just sitting there and staring at a screen

The Film Value Chain
Value-chain analysis looks at every step a business goes through, from raw materials to the eventual end-user. The goal is to deliver maximum value for the least possible total cost.-http://www.investopedia.com/terms/v/valuechain.asp

Production

The production of a film is very important this is where the storyboard, props, treatment and paperwork is produced also paperwork on where you will recording etc., this is where idea's are pitched and finalized, an example of this is like when they were going to film 'The Woman In Black' this was planned to be shot in 3D but it was later decided not to be done. The production is also where the film is created, crew will be recruited such as sound editors, assistant directors, photographer and the script supervisor etc. After all the the film has been produced and all the final recording is done, this is where the editing comes in to process the sound effects transitions between scenes all the editing down to a T is down during the production.

Distribution

The distribution is the process of where the movie is available to watch this is finalized by the film instructor, this can either be done by a cinema release or a home entertainment such as DVD, Blu-Ray etc. There are many types of releases such as the Standard release this is where the movie is released in the cinema 1st and then later released as a DVD, Blu-Ray or Internet etc. On the other hand there is the Simultaneous release which very rarely takes place but this is where the movie is released to the audience in every form; cinema, DVD, Blu-Ray and Internet etc. Overall the distribution is when the film is released to an audience.

Marketing

Marketing is very important this is when the film is advertised to the audience early in the release cycle, film companies put a lot of finance into this part as this is what attracts people to come view the film in cinema or purchase to have as home entertainment. Publicity of the film is usually handled by the distributors and exhibitors.
There are many forms of marketing such as:
Bus Ad's
Billboards
Radio
Film Trailers
T.V
Newspapers
Internet etc.

However how the company markets the film does effect the audience for example if u advertise a film mainly through Internet it will attract the eyes of teenagers/young adults as they spend majority of the time online. However if you advertise a movie on a kids channel this will promote it to children and make it more appealable for them as is advertised on a child friendly show.

Exhibition

This is where the film is able for audience's to view/buy. The way the film could be shown is in many various ways such as cinema, internet, DVD, blu-ray and also on T.V. However is has been shown how majority viewing on films are at home, only a small 4% is cinema viewings. The most popular day for teenagers/young adults to attend cinema is on a saturday the reason I believe this is because saturday is the weekend for most of us and this is a way to relax. 14% of people who viewed a film at the cinema then went to buy at the retail.

FILM VALUE CHAIN:

- Theatrical Launch: At the cinemas
- Non Theatrical license: Aeroplanes, Hotels etc.
- Home entertainment: Films for release on digital media such as DVD & Blu-Ray
- Pay/Subscription TV:  Sky, Virgin Media etc.
- Free to air TV: Repeated shown on TV
- Licensed Merchandising: Use brand of their products

Production

This is the stage where all the filming is carried out. Before the actual production of a film there is a pre production and a post production as well as the actual production. Pre-production is the planning of the film/project. A detailed schedule/plan follows after. The post production is the 'final' cut in which the film is assembled by the editor. In this stage the editing of the footage takes place and the next step of 'final cutting'.

Distribution

This is the process of where the film is made available for the audience to watch within the industry.
Distributors may decide to go for many simultaneous releases which have many advantages to both consumers such as the audience having the choice of whether to have a home cinema or to go to the cinema itself.

Marketing

There are many different marketing techniques such as advertising film trailers on You Tube, posters on  billboards (Ideally in Central) , bus adverts, texts, word of mouth, through magazines, Happy meals and its free toys related to the film. One of the most cheapest and fastest way to promote/market a film especially in today's era and use of technology has to be the use of Internet as social networks such as Twitter being a really useful way to gain attention to a particular film ; e.g. Think like a man, Hunger games, The avengers being the top 3 most tweeted movies in 2012.

Exhibition

Audiences have many ways to see a film from home cinema, purchasing/renting a DVD, cinema going, and downloading. With most choices the distributors gain their money and make profits. However there are also its negatives e.g. downloading films illegally which would mean distributors losing out profit wise especially as it is becoming widely popular.

A swede is a remake of a chosen film with very limited props and resources with key points and lies from films.

The 1st swede is twilight i chose it because it was funny
The 2nd is Hangover i chose this because it really resembles the film.

intro to swede

A swede is a re make of a movie with key scene/s of the particular film. It is normally a poor version with bad homemade props and music.

I picked this swede because i thought it was partly accurate (included key scenes) and was funny at parts.
